Thursday and moving on

Well our latest van has now died on us and I guess it's all in God's hands what we will drive next.

The ice we are getting ready is looking great and almost ready for skating on, I hope.

Our world all around us is crumbling because of the lack of hope, more and more money is being used and made to replace the needed hope in the lives of humanity. All in all it is bait to draw us away from an all loving and all caring God that said, we cannot live on bread alone but by every word that comes from God. Money is a lot like building your (life) foundation on ice, you have to keep your focus on making ice constantly because if you don't focus on making ice and lots of it, it will melt away and your foundation and strength will dissolve and slowly but surly flow away and you will crumble and fall and how would that look. We have bought into a culture of materialistic humanism and left behind the life giving culture of hope, that started in a manger a baby and two young parents.

Building our lives on the rock (Jesus) and we have a promise that nothing will be able to destroy this foundation. Why not start today to replace the ice as it melts with the ROCK. No one can force you to do anything but a friend will tell you the truth and then you will have a choice that counts for eternity.

One of the most common questions asked is what is

the ranches greatest need right now or today. So we

will post the list of our greatest needs daily.

Matthew 6:33

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Our number 1 greatest need right now is the new rafters for the lodge

that we had hoped would be donated but now find out that they were

not able to help, at a cost of $12,000.00.

Our number 2 greatest need right now is interior finishing which is done

completely in pine, three floors top to bottom 11,000 sq. ft. at a price of

approx. $10,000.00

Our second need would be ranch utilities gas and electricity that is

approx. 1,200.00 per month

Our third need would be the provision of monthly diesel for truck and

equipment approx. $850.00 per month

Our fourth need would be food to feed the workers that volunteer and I

have always felt if we feed thier belly they will listen to what we have to

say. approx. $500.00 per month

Our fifth need would be basic daily needs such as nails, poly, tape,

switches, plugs saw blades, drill bits etc. approx. $400.00 per month

All of the above are items we desperately need as we move along in

We are a faith based and mentor based training facility and our hope is with the help of anyone that has a heart for helping so many to give each person that comes to the ranch an opportunity to find the skills they were created for.

Their journey has taken them through different twelve step programs and life recovery through a relationship and healing process with Jesus Christ. If it were not for caring people in their lives that never gave up on them or thought they were a hopeless cause they too would still be lost.

Wednesday 's blessings and blessings....

Today the ranch was blessed with a whole lot of concrete and a whole lot of incredible help. Help from as far as Edmonton arrived to lighten the load. Neighbours from down the road arrived with shovels in hand, Lloydminster residents phoned and asked what can we do. And the God that loves the lost continues to bless us all out at the ranch.

Diane and I got to do a ranch presentation at the Rotary club this morning and we were also so blessed as we had to spend a lot of time after speaking with many wanting to help .

Diane and Shelly kept very busy cleaning and organizing the trailer and the storage area.

Shelly helped me with a bit of pipe threading as we built the main gas line for the Lodge and tomorrow we should have a gas meter and gas to use at the lodge.

Our lunch that the girls fed us was as usual a feast and we were able to get every belly filled and topped off with apple pie and ice cream, not a lot of complaining here. For supper James and Sara blessed us with a steak barbecue, baked potatoes and salad, we ate like kings, but I guess we are Kings kids.

Riding for the Son! Singing for the Son, Cooking for the Son, nursing for the Son, plumbing for the Son! it's all the same.

Colossians 3:23 - 24 What ever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Jesu Christ that you are serving. Our years of serving God through youth and family ministries have given us a strong foundation and versatile training for evangelism that serves us well no matter were God places us. God seems to have a particularly odd sense of humour when placing our family into situations that stretch our faith and continues to broaden our comfort zone, but He has never left us or forsaken us. We have been on a huge learning curve this past year, Along with loosing our lodge to a storm and learning how to build and set up a ranch, camp off the bald prairie, we have been sent a few curve balls our way and not from God either. We have been so blessed as we look at all the potential disasters that could have come our way, we only lost our lodge in an incredible wind storm, or hurricane, or plow wind or tornado or what ever it was, no one was hurt and we are pressing on knowing that Our God Reigns. Added to that the stresses of family and ministry finances, vehicle breakdowns and the health issues that we all deal with from time to time, we soon find our selves right were God wants us - on our knees with our full attention. But God is good. We have learned much and are happy to report that ministry out in the country in a beautiful valley on a new ranch development is a way cool, and that we are finding the opportunities are endless, and we continue to be encouraged by the fruit we are getting for our efforts. The Battle River Ranch Camp is committed to serving our community with the compassion, love and the mercy needed to build strong and healthy families. Thank you to each and every one that has come along side with all you have to stand with us on this project of hope.

What foot prints are you leaving?

Or maybe you don't think you are leaving foot prints

Everywhere you go, you leave footprints; in the sand, in the snow, in the mud, in the dust, and in lives, for all time, to those that will follow …

Footprints are temporary records. They get washed away by water, blown away by the wind, and they disappear with time. Nothing is left but unanswered questions...

Who made them? Where were they going? Were they happy? Were they sad?

Were they teaching? Were they guiding? Were they helping?

At the beach did they pickup seashells? Did they chase seagulls by the water?

Were they lovers holding hands?

Were they small children exploring the beach for the very first time?

When it snowed, did they make a snowman? Did they throw snowballs?

Were they a father trying to save his family?

Were they a mother with a heavey load

Were they a soldier's fighting for freedom and those he loved

And the questions go on….

Your memories are the “footprints” in your mind, and only you know the answers...

· What have you done? - What hope did you share?

· What have you seen? - What legacy did you leave?

· What have you touched? - What will you be remembered by?

· What were your thoughts? - What will they say at your funeral?

Footprints in the sand

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed He was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from His life. For each scene He noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonging to Him and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of His life flashed before Him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of His life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of His life.

This really bothered Him and He questioned the LORD about it. LORD you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.

The LORD replied, my precious, precious child, I Love you and I would never leave you! During your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

Tuesday and hold on

This evening as we sat with friends they shared how when their daughter was 4 years old she went through six months of seizures and were invited to a healing service that evening. With a bit of reservation they went and their daughter is now 22 years old and has never had another seizure. God is so awesome. If you don't believe God can heal, what else is there?

We are ready for concrete and 8:30 tomorrow morning the trucks start to roll in and we have been blessed with two professional concrete contractors that have volunteered to do the floor in the lodge if we keep all other volunteers away. So we graciously agreed and we will do something else. Please don't forget we have Christmas puppies still available and ready just for Christmas.

Our beautiful grandchildren had their Christmas program from school today and what a great job they did. Got a very rare picture of Santa resting and had to share it with you all.

The ranch would be lacking so much without the many volunteers and their hearts to push on and build for the future. Many have captured the vision of the necessity that giving an opportunity for so many young men and women has the potential of changing the atmosphere of a workplace so plagued with alcohol, drug abuse and lack of respect. The first of it's kind, a faith based trades and life skills facility will help to introduce the long forgotten life raining mentor ship needed so that respect for self and others can be restored. I hear church folks saying "well what can you do it's the way it going to be, see the bible says so" or non church ed folks saying ooh it's not so bad and how can God make a difference anyway. Over and over again righteousness will prevail on and off the work place. The work place is drastically short of trades personnel and is growing shorted every day as the average age of trades personnel is getting older. We have seen average of approximately 8 out of 10 people attempt a trade that stay with it. University students, farmers, high school students, oil field workers, secretaries sales personnel, and house wives, just ask our daughter who could thread pipe as fast as the boys. Learning about trades and life skills has and will have life long benefits.

Sunday So Blessed and so thankful

Our family is so blessed as we grow closer to God and each other in our

lives. Sharing and supporting each other in so many ways. Diane and I

have always been so blessed to have our children close and willing to

freely share their precious little ones with us. Our hearts go out to the

grandparents that see very little of their grandchildren for so many

different reasons.

Today after church we were so blessed to have a friend join us and

James, Sarah and Gen out at the ranch for lunch. She has been wanting to

come out for some time but due to her situation the costs were

outrageous. So today we loaded her up in our old van and away we went

of to the ranch, we had a great lunch and time with the animals then we had one last stop as we fed our horses their feed of oats. Then we were off back to the city. But wait what's wrong here, the van will not start and after enough time spent that we were all getting very cold we pushed the old girl into the shop kept trying, but soon called for help

and the old van will be put out back with our other antiques. Our friend

laughed so hard the whole time and said she hasn't had so much fun in

many years. God is so good and loves each one of us, and we believe

that the whole day was His doing just to show our friend just

how much He loves her, on a road trip and visit to the ranch.

As I stopped to chat with our good friend Charlene today, she bursts out with

such excitement and with overwhelming news as day after day more folks want

to help her as she has taken on the responsibilities and organizing of the

February fundraiser. She is doing such a great job you will not want to miss this

event for anything.

As we move ahead with all gratefulness and with the knowledge that

we are so blessed and highly favoured we are asked weekly what our

needs are right now so here is a five point list for us to pray about.
