As Diane and I traveled to the west coast and back, we spent a lot of time with organizations such as Teen Challenge, Youth Unlimited, House of James and The Cirus center in Abbotsford along with many individuals and families. Every where we traveled we encountered the same concerns about the youth of today, that is were are they going to get the opportunities needed to enter a demanding workforce. Diane, I and the team here at the Battle River Ranch Camp need each and every one of your help to accomplish this first of it's kind opportunity for the many that are waiting the ranch to be completed. We are doing all we can and are once again asking the many of you that have in the past mentioned that you would like to help us financially to PLEASE consider the choice of donating to the ranch. So many have said, what help is only $25.00 per month, well if that is all you can afford then that's what God will bless you for donating. If everyone that reads the Blog donated $25.00 per month the help would be incredible and what a blessing. We believe God will build this ranch into all it is meant to be but we also know he will use his people to do just that.
As we listened to a speaker from Toronto on our trip he said we are a society of comfort seekers, and I believe we are on a runaway train when it comes to comfort and the track has never been completed. Most of us have built such a comfortable life style at the expense of our children who will be left to care for us and handle a out of control national dept, but who cares as long as we are comfortable. Comfort is ok as long As we are passing on some of that comfort to someone less fortunate than us. Take some time this week to make another persons life more comfortable than our own. You will most likely feel a bit uncomfortable at first but soon and very soon you will probably feel a lot like Jesus.

Don't take the bait

It's easy to fall into a rut or to be drawn into a 6' hole but the more we focus on blessing others and building them up the more our lives are compete. Had a great visit with Edgar over at Brock White as he continues to do what ever he can to move the ranch along. Had another call from a family in Calgary searching for a place for their son to learn a trade with out the overwhelming pressures of drugs, alcohol and bad language. The pressure to do the drugs and drinking is so accepted that most have no choice but to take the chance.
Stats show that we will spend double our resources to save a dog than to

Our weekend at the ranch was absolutely incredible as more nieghbours arrived to help and build. Also so many from LGF as usuall arrive to pour thier love and talents into building the kingdom of God work and plan. Pastor Lyle as always encourages and assured us the ranch will be up and operating soon we are so thankful for our church family as they stand by us with hearts that truly reflect the image of Christ.

WOMEM with PURPOSE cont.
April 10th was a day of adventure at Battle River Ranch as my aunt Sandy and I joined Harold, Diane, and Keenan to install some plastic piping. A new experience for most of us but a few hours later when the goal was complete we felt excited, totally wiped out, and accomplished pipe installers. Listening to the interaction, when Harold patiently gave us instructions sometimes a second or third time, gave me a glimpse of what will happen, hopefully this fall, when the students arrive to start a new part of their life.
Instructions from Harold weren't written down so were more subject to interpretation, than when we are given instructions from the Lord through scripture. When you look at the whole picture, God has a plan for us and if we follow the plan, our paths will definitely go straighter and with less re-doing.
I look forward to walking on the completed floors warmed by water through the pipe we installed today. I also look forward to the days when I get something right the first time, instead of having to re-do, or choose to settle for something less than God's best for me and the people around me.
Seeing how God used the various gifts He has given us to accomplish much, was rewarding as we had some great turkey soup that was donated as well as some yummy dessert. Sandy, retired from book-keeping, was cleaning and getting the vacuum running better, even the dogs were working, doing advance garden protection by eliminating some gophers.

WOMEN with PURPOSE

Bit of a challenge out at the ranch today as there were more women than men. And as expected we got more done than expected. The floor heat pipes for the main floor of the lodge are all in place and looks great.
Exciting to have Sandy and Elaine with us for a bit, we have had a greatest time ever. We are praying thAt they have a safe trip home to Abbotsford tomorrow.

Asking Francis
Always great to listen to John as he talks with 99 year old Francis. At 99 years old doing a radio show to share with the rest of us about life. Francis believes we are lacking respect for others and far too selfish.
Pit stop at Action Towing this morning and a bit of time to visit with John and Jeanette always a blessing to us.
A local neighbor stopped in for a visit today and shared a bit about the loss of his father last week. Never easy to loose a parent.
Our old friend Mike McGrandle stopped in at the ranch and also blessed the socks off us with a time of prayer and encouragement.
We have the main floor ready for heat pipes tomorrow and sounds like we have some very needed help on the way, God is so good.
The upper level duct system is nearing completion so we can close in the west walls. We have a young man helping us and he is doing a great job of staying focused and efficient. Thankyou Keenon.
We are also so thankful to Canadian Tire for the donation of our much needed new tools.
The Battle River Ranch Camp is a one of a kind entry level faith based, trades and life skills opportunity facility. Offering an option to anyone that has been searching for an opportunity and is serious about finding out their area of strength and work place career possibilities.
Out hope and prayer is to let as many of you know about the ranch as possible so that the hope it will bring, the lives it will change and the encouragement it will provide, can start as soon as possible.
The ranch will be a one of a kind facility and will offer an option to many like no other. When God has a plan and like our friends Mike and Pastor Lyle wisely told us just keep your focus and don't let the distractions pull you away from God's purpose.

The Battle River Ranch Camp is a non profit organization that is focused on developing trades, life skills and training opportunities for men and women that are searching and find it difficult to get the opportunities needed to develop a productive and positive life skill.
Many men and women today have no idea about their future or what they could be good at and to how find out their possible skill area or level. We are a faith based and mentor based training facility and our hope is with the help of anyone that has a heart for helping so many to give each person that comes to the ranch an opportunity to find the skills they were created for.
;Harold and Diane Stephan left a life filled with addictions and bad choices. Their journey has taken them through different twelve step programs and life recovery through a relationship and healing process with Jesus Christ. If it were not for caring people in their lives that never gave up on them or thought they were a hopeless cause they too would still be lost.

Get up and get ready, hmmm sounds like a song, well it can be as we start a new week on our walk with with a great friend. As Diane and I set out to start this week we pray that God would richly bless each of you with incredible joy and hope filled verses to the song that God wants to write about each of us this week. So keep your worship music playing and surround yourself with a whole lot of great and real people this week.
As you step out of bed this morning make it your purpose to go out of your way to bless someone at every turn in your day. It's not that hard to smile, encourage and move a stranger from a bad day to a day of hope. Just ask Frank Perreti the famous author about the day that a stranger changed his life forever. Because of that day that changed his life he has changed thousands and thousands with the books he writes.
We all live in an immediate world that we impact every day so start there and change the world that you live in with a word or smile of hope. Go figure !!!!!
