STANDING IN THE GAP

Have you ever tried to gently place a cat into a container of warm water in an attempt to give it a much needed bath. Not sure exactly sure why I feel this way. I feel like I am that cat and God is working with me.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NIV)
Today over 3/4's of the people that live in my community are seeking faith in anything and everything but the God who has so much love and cares for each one of his creation that he gave it all.
I hear my neighbours, friends and people of my community saying, why would I want to be part of a religion that has caused so many wars, pain and suffering. Why would I want to be part of a religion that is so full of hypocricy. Why would I want to be part of a religion that can't even get along with each other.
Well I believe I know why, and please let me know if I am wrong.
I don't do a great job,  like  "Gaundi said of living out what I profess to believe".
So I want to say as best as a Hippocrate can say it,
"I am sorry and please forgive me, that I ignore you;
-when I see you struggling
-when you need encouraging
-when you need to talk
-when you need someone to trust
-when I use God as an escape goat
- when I forget Jesus purpose is to seek and save the lost.
-when I get busy being comfortable
-when I get caught up in telling you how God has blessed me.
-when I say I am heading out to my support group and not invite you along.
-when I talk about the great life I have but not share how I got it
-when I spend so much time helping others around the world but no time to help a single mom down the street.
-when I share all kinds of words from the Bible but never live it out
-when I have gained status and recognition but my neighbours don't know Jesus.
-when I head out on safe comfortable mission trip far away and communities near me are desperate for the hope we profess to have.
-when I let fear stop me from doing what is right.
-when I am quick to judge a brother's faith
-when I believe my church is the only church going to heaven
-when I forget where I was and what I was.
-when the only time you recognize I may be a Christian is Sundays.
-when I have the best of the best and it is never enough
-when I give up on you unlike Big biker Doug who never gave up on me till the day he introduced me to Jesus.
-and by the way I don't belong to a religion but rather I am working daily on a relationship with Jesus.
-For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18 NIV)
-there is so much more, so please stand in the gap with me and add to this list.
" for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.". (Romans 3:23, 24 NIV)
"Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."(Ephesians 4:31, 32 NIV)
