Thursday and moving on

We have and continue to receive calls from across Canada as to if the ranch is ready or open yet. One family from out of town that called have a son that is 29 years old that would like to come. He shared a bit of his story with me. He told me that he was raised in a good christian home and always wanted to get a trade but not sure where to start, so and after high school he attended one year of bible school for good biblical grounding. He then headed out in search of a job in the construction industry as his parents supported him to do. (Out in the real world) Well as time went on and he spent time in the trade he was first hired on to. He learned a lot, as he had no previous experience. He did what he was told to do and soon fell into the pit. Within one year he was a full blown drug addict and alcoholic as well as an apprentice. Today he is desperate to find his way back to the real, real world, the world where God loves him and gives him hope and he also hopes to find people that will mentor him to be the tradesman God meant him to be.

He has only been clean and sober this time around for 3 months and was hoping to be able to come to the ranch and work and start over in an environment that would encourage and support him in the right direction. I told him he could come to the ranch as a non resident volunteer only, until he has one full year of his life change completed, as this is the ranch policy. He was bit disappointed but then said this is the first real reason that he has had to work hard at keeping clean and sober. He thanked me and said he would keep in touch and see when he could make it out to the ranch to volunteer.

Thank you all so much for the support and encouragement. This project is a huge job but God said He would bring everything and everyone together to complete the vision. If you are not sure about weather to help the ranch project out or not please give Diane and I an opportunity to share with you the vision, purpose and mission of the Battle River Camp Ranch. You're right you don't get to go to a warm exotic place in another part of the world to be a part of this ministry, but you do get to be a part of a ministry that is unique and improving lives right here at home. We believe that there are many needs all over the world, but at the expense of our own families and communities, just doesn't seem right.

Life can be lived without drugs, alcohol, pornography and filthy language. I was and did all these life choices at one time but for the sake of my marriage, family and health made a life choice. It may not be for all and that's fine, but I have learned that you harvest the fruit from the seeds you plant. If you live and plant misery you will harvest misery, if you live and plant poverty you will harvest poverty, if you live and plant laziness you will harvest laziness, but if you live and plant life and hope you will harvest abundant life and hope. WOW, one life to live, so many choices and options, why not give Jesus a chance in your life today. In the morning take a second look in the mirror and see if you can see the choices you have made and the seeds you are planting. God Bless each and every one of you.
