Friday's Frenzy as we head for higher ground

Got a call and met with several business men in town and had a pay loader donated for the summer as well as a man lift donated right to the ranch. Fred stopped by again and as always is such an encouragement as he had some really good ideas for us and the possibility of another company coming on board. We've been told many times that we need a plan as to how the ranch will operate, but as we are now seeing to wait upon the Lord is the way to go.

As I sat with Brian and he share with me the need for a facility like the Battle River Ranch Camp and that he remembers once a few years back sitting with a friend that was financially well off and that two weeks before he died he realized that he had far more money then he ever needed or could have time to spend, and realized he could have done so much more to help others rather than focusing on building an empire for what.

Helping others brings good feelings to the giver and the reciever of the good deeds. Using your special gifts to help others can be a gift to yourself as you enjoy a self esteem boost for making others’ lives better, and make the world a better place. You feel more worthy of good deeds yourself, your trust in the decency of people is reinforced, and you feel more connected to yourself and to others. In fact, research shows that those who demonstrate more altruistic social interest tend to enjoy higher levels of mental health, above and beyond the practical benefits of receiving help and other known psychospiritual, stress, and demographic factors that you would expect.

Creating a balanced lifestyle that includes service to others can help you feel less stress as well, as you feel more connected to God, more grateful for what you have, and less invested in the ‘rat race’ that causes stress for so many of us.
