Wednesday Report

Dad and I headed over to uncle Art's first thing in the morning. It was fencing day and there was a lot of fence that needed repairs especially on the south side of the pasture. Aunt Elsie had a nice breakfast ready and it always smelled so good, after we ate it was out to the old Fargo 1 ton truck and over to the pile of fence posts. After the truck was loaded with posts, nails, hammers and other tools we made one more stop at the house to pick up the lunch then off we were. The drive to the pasture was only a few miles away but what a ride in that truck. The smell of the leather and the shifting of gears as we bounced along. There is something about sitting between two hard working men and listening to them talk, when you're just a kid, those are great times. We got to the pasture and they started to unload what they needed to start fixing fence. It was a great day out and I watched them punch holes in the ground with the crow bar until they had a nice hole that the post would fit into. Then a few good smacks with the sledge hammer and then attach the wire with those funny nails and it was time for coffee. Those were good teaching experiences that stuck with me and so I made sure my kids came along as often as possible and also learned about the work that I did as a plumber. Today those boys of ours are some of the best plumbers you will ever find and even our daughters often use what they learned growing up as they go to school or raise their families. Today it seems less and less of our young men and women have had any sort of help to recognize their abilities in some way or other to enable them to have some sort of self worth. Hopefully with the much needed help from all of you we can make a better future for a lot of people that are desperately searching for a purpose and a place to fit in. God says we are more than conquerors as in Romans 8 : 28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." We do need your help as we cannot do this on our own, so please pray for the ranch and if you can help please let us know. The miracle of the day happened as I was picking up milk this morning at the co-op and a lady in the produce department stopped me and said that she would like us to give her a call whenever we need help and that she would do whatever needed to be done to help with the ranch. P.T.L.
A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed - and yet one of the most valuable - assets to our society.
From experience and from scripture we find it is clear that the family destiny is determined by the father, the family head.
If Canada hopes to halt this tide of divorce and crime that is sweeping our land, strong men will have to provide their families with the responsible leadership they need. God has ordained that the father is to be leader in the home. This leadership is not by might alone, but it is centered in love, duty and honor.
Wallace Denton puts it right when he says: "The crux of the whole problem for men is not "am I in charge of my family?" but rather " Am I in charge of myself?" For when a man is in charge of himself, he will be in charge of his family. Fathers it's time to take charge!!!"

Thought: Dads, be careful where and how you walk!
Someone is following in your footsteps!
