Friday's Frenzy

Why did Jesus fold the napkin? John 20.7

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection?

I never noticed this....

The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed at the head of that stony coffin.

John 20:6 "Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus’ head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen."

Was that important? Absolutely!

Is it really significant? Yes!

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition. When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished.

Now if the master were done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table. The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, 'I'm done'.

But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because...The folded napkin meant... 'I'm coming back! ' I am sooooo glad Jesus is coming back.

We prepare ourselves for every possible situation imaginable, we get our winter tires on, have regular checkups, build up our bank accounts and make sure we have enough life insurance so we and others are safe to go but are we ready?

Today the rink in Kindersley burned to the ground suddenly and without notice as the Scotties Tournament of Hearts curling was about to be played in this building. Things happen and we can never be sure when it will happen. Two things we don't know for sure and that is when Jesus is coming back and when we will exit this world of ours, but both could happen any time. In the meantime we need to do all we can to do as Jesus did when he was here in seeking the lost and those without hope and to pass on the most incredible solution to all life's situations. That solution can be found at the foot of the cross where Jesus went the distance for each of us, now you only have to take the last step.

Today we were blessed with a lady that is interested in helping us with training and setting up non profit organizations. We often feel like when we are getting ready to go on a holiday. Often the time getting ready to go is as much fun as the trip itself. I had a lady call me not long ago that said that her son is in B.C. but can't find a decent job and he has very little experience would it be possible for him to come to the ranch for some training in the trades? I assured her that it was very possible and she said she would keep in touch. If we build it they will come.

SO TODAY GET FIRED UP AND READY TO GO!!!!!!!!
