Tuesday

I've often thought, how in the world can I ever make a difference? It seems that no matter what a person tries it's not easy. Sometimes you think what kind of a differance can one person do anyway? Well, I heard a story about a guy that lost his legs and part of his left arm in an accident. He was pretty much useless and that's just the way he felt once he was released from the hospital. He was smart enough to know that he had to do something soon before he got so down on himself and depressed he would lose all hope. So after a bit of thinking and he realized that one of the main Praying reasons he was still alive was due to the letters, cards and prayers he got while in the Hospital and during recovery. If it had not been for those letters of encouragement he would have given up on his seemingly hopeless condition. He could still use his right arm and he could write letters, yes he thought letters of encouragement to people who seem to have given up on life or any kind of hope for their lives. He thought, what about people in jail surely they could use some encouragement, so he decided to start writing letters of encouragement to a local prison. He kept up his letter writing for several months and because the inmates were not allowed to return a letter he never really knew if he was making any kind of differance at all. Then one day he recieved a letter from the warden of the prison asking if he could write his letters on the best paper he could find as the inmates would no sooner be done reading the letter when they would pass it on to the next cell and the letters were not getting to everyone as the paper would wear out. We all need to be encouraged at some time or other, my little brother Arnie phoned me the other day and needed a question answered about a gas job he was working on. He said there was a problem in the way they were testing the systems and setting the pressure regulators, but he said he knew he could call his brother for the answer. When he called we had a great talk as usual and I was able to answer his questions, to me it was a call of encouragment to know my little brother who is 47 years old still would call and we could help each other out. But that's just how my little brother is and I love him for just the way he is. I know we all get tired and seem to run out of time in the day, but make the call or do something that will help someone to move on with thier lives knowing others do care and can make such a differance. Remember that you probably had someone do a thing or two for you at one time that made a differance for you also. Too often we forget to take the time to do what is right and would be an encouragement for someone else and sometimes sadly by choice. Miracle of the day, we completed the mech. drawings for the shop and they will be off to the engineers tomorrow. Also more people coming on board as monthly supporters for the Ranch. P.T.L. Phil. 2:4 "Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others."
