Friday

I was running a bit late, I just had a bit more to do on the plumbing job to finish it and then needed to head back to Caronport from Moose Jaw. The boys were playing football and I promised them I would be there to watch. I pulled up to the football field and they had already started the game, I'm sure I'd only missed a few minutes. After jumping out of my truck and running across the road in front of a car that was going nice and slow (due to the speed control system which was enforced by pot holes) I ran over to the football field. I found a spot to sit on the grass next to a big biker and great pastor friend of ours, Will Moffat. Will had his traditional greeting that was a crazy strong hand shake and that serious smile of his. This was one guy you never wanted to meet in some dark alley cause you were not leaving with out knowing for sure that you were going to heaven when you terminated. After our greeting I got into the game and as usual the Stephan boys controlled the game. About halfway through the game is when it all began. I noticed this big kid sitting in front of us and a couple of times he turned and talked to Will. So I asked Will who he was and he said he was his son, Jesse and he just got home from playing hockey in B.C. He'd just been cut from the team and was not sure where his life would go from there. Well as custom would have it I asked if he would like a job working with us? We needed a strong kid like him on a job at least for a couple of weeks. "Well," Will said, "he knows nothing about plumbing," and of course that didn't matter, in fact, all the better. We would teach him all he needed to know, and wouldn't have to worry about the bad habits he may have learned elswhere. Well, that was over 6 years ago and Jesse is still with us except that today he is an exceptional crossmaker, heads up, the most popular interdenominational young adults group in the city. He has gotten many of his siblings into trades and to top it all off he's a journeyman plumber, and a good one at that. I am sure glad I didn't miss that football game! Jesse just needed an option that would help him move on with his life and to be an asset and a positive addition to society. You can ask any one, he is exactly that. Jessie has worked with us, he has lived with us, he has played with us, he has prayed and worshiped God with us, as he is a great musician and singer, he's a man that loves God with all his heart and you need only be around him for a few minutes to know that.
Well, today Jesse in a doctors office, found out that he has a rare but aggressive form of cancer. Up until today Jesse has done all that he could to be there for others in whatever way he could. He would raise money for a cause, or a friend needed mission trip money, he would always find a way. Well, right now Jesse needs all of us and I'm asking everyone of you to please pray for Jesse Moffat. Right now Jesse needs to keep his eyes on the Lord, concentrate on improving his condition and finding out his options. I know that he has a newer Toyota truck-2006 Tacoma with a heavy payment because he wanted to get it paid for as soon as possible so he could concentrate on ministry. Jesse needs to sell that truck so if anyone of you needs a truck or knows someone that does need a good truck please let us know, as this would help Jesse out a lot. Once again I'm asking everyone of you to continue to pray for Jesse and let's all be there for him now.
Romans 8:29 and 30
30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?"
